History and strategy of HODL

Where does “HODL” come from?
The word “HODL” was originally a simple typo. On December 18, 2013, a user named “GameKyuubi” posted a post on the BitcoinTalk forum titled “I AM HODLING” just as the Bitcoin exchange rate was about to go through a significant drop. The original text was full of typos and emotion
'I typed that title twice because I knew it was wrong the first time. Still wrong. Whatever. I AM HODLING'
The gist of the post was that the author, despite the market panic, would not sell, but would continue to hold on to his Bitcoin. So the word “HODL” is a misspelling of the English word “hold”, which then grew into a meme and then a whole crypto philosophy.

01. What is the HODL strategy?
The basic idea behind HODLing is that an investor buys a cryptocurrency (e.g. Bitcoin or Ethereum) and then holds it for the long term, regardless of whether the market price is rising or falling.
Main features:
Time horizon: usually measured in years Passive strategy: does not require daily monitoring or active trading. Objective: to take advantage of the appreciation of cryptocurrencies over the long termHODLers often view their assets as digital gold - a means of storing value that will become more valuable over time.

02. Benefits and risks
Benefits and risks
Simple: no technical analysis or day trading required. Less stress: no need to worry about every price movement. Historical basis: cryptos like Bitcoin have shown a long-term upward trend so farRisks:
Volatility: despite the long-term uptrend, the price can fluctuate extremely. Technological changes: a project could fail if it cannot adapt. Technological changes: a project could fail if it cannot adapt. -
03. HODL is part of modern crypto theory
HODL is not just a strategy - it is also a community identity. Those who identify themselves as HODL are often active members of crypto communities and long-term believers in decentralisation, financial freedom and the future of blockchain.
The term “HODL” has also given rise to several humorous variations, such as:
HODL the line - a reference to 'hold the line' HODLer - someone who is a dedicated crypto holder. HODLing - the action of not selling out, even in turbulent times. -
04. AURA and the HODL philosophy
AURA aims to create a platform where HODL strategy adherents can safely store, create and maintain their digital assets (liquidity providers).
